Stefani Reyes

Stefani is in college on a scholarship, but a recurring nightmare is wrecking her grades: the opening night of the Sky View restaurant, high on a tower, as it collapses. She goes home for answers. The family is estranged, and she's been gone for years too. Her dad, Marty, welcomes her. Her brother, Charlie, less so. Their mother, Darlene, left when they were little.

Through her aunt and uncle, Stefani reaches her grandmother, Iris, who lives alone in a fortified cabin and is dying of cancer.

Iris says she had the vision of the tower falling, warned everyone and saved dozens of people. Since then, Death has been taking the survivors in the order they should have died, and now their children and grandchildren. Stefani doesn't believe her and leaves. Iris follows, hands her the notebook where she wrote everything down and lets herself die in front of her granddaughter to prove it.

After the funeral, Uncle Howard dies in a lawnmower accident. Nobody listens to Stefani until cousin Julia dies too. The notebook leads them to "J. B.", William Bludworth, who confirms the rules and doesn't offer much hope.

Cousins Erik and Bobby die at a hospital trying to use one of the loopholes. Stefani, Charlie and Darlene flee in an RV to Iris's cabin. The cabin explodes, the RV ends up in the water and Stefani is trapped by her seat belt. Darlene dies. Charlie pulls his sister out and revives her.

They think she died and came back, and that this took her off the list. A week later, a doctor explains her heart never stopped. Moments later, a freight train loaded with logs derails nearby, and the cargo kills both siblings.
