Master Shifu

Years ago, Shifu went to the Bao Gu Orphanage to teach a young tiger who couldn't control her strength. With discipline, he helped her master her movements. In the short's present day, he's the one who sends Po to teach his first class to a bunch of bunnies, and he's surprised by how it goes.

Ten years before the first movie, Shifu demands that young Tigress fight exactly like him. When little Po sneezes into his soup, Shifu gets sick just as the warrior Boar arrives. He sends Tigress to gather fighters and is furious with her picks, until he sees how it turns out.

Shifu raised Tai Lung like a son and trained him to be the Dragon Warrior. When Oogway denied him the title, Tai Lung turned on the valley and was locked away. Now he has escaped, and Shifu's only bet is a panda. He finds out Po learns when food is involved and trains him that way. Then he faces Tai Lung alone to buy time and survives, badly hurt. In the end, he finds peace.

Shifu announces he's done teaching and that Po should take over training the Five. The first class is a disaster. When Kai attacks the Jade Palace, Shifu is one of the masters whose chi is stolen, turning him into a jade warrior.

Shifu tells Po it's time to become the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace and choose a new Dragon Warrior. In the end, he's not thrilled with Po's pick: Zhen, a fox and a thief.

Dustin Hoffman voices Shifu in all four movies and several specials. In Legends of Awesomeness, Fred Tatasciore does the voice.
