Transformers

First car

Sam is a Los Angeles teenager shopping for his first car. He buys a dirty old 1977 Camaro, not knowing it's the Autobot Bumblebee, who starts watching over him. His ancestor Archibald's glasses, which Sam has kept, carry the map to the AllSpark, imprinted in 1897 when the explorer stumbled on a frozen Megatron in the Arctic.

The Decepticon Frenzy figures this out and comes for the glasses. Bumblebee saves Sam and Mikaela Banes, the classmate he has a crush on, from Barricade, and the two watch Optimus Prime's Autobots arrive on Earth.

Mission City

Sector 7 agents led by Seymour Simmons arrest Sam and Mikaela and capture Bumblebee. Sam convinces the agents to free the robot so he can get the AllSpark to Optimus. Frenzy thaws Megatron at the Hoover Dam, and the convoy of Autobots and soldiers heads for Mission City.

In the middle of the battle, Sam runs the cube through the city. Finally, he rams the AllSpark into the Decepticon's chest, killing him and destroying the cube. In the end, Sam and Mikaela start dating.

The Matrix

Two years later, Sam leaves for college, leaving Bumblebee heartbroken. Touching an AllSpark shard fills his head with Cybertronian symbols: a map to an Energon source the Decepticons want. They kidnap his parents, and the Fallen demands Sam in exchange. Optimus dies defending him.

With Mikaela, Leo and Simmons, Sam wakes the old Jetfire, who takes them to Egypt in search of the Matrix of Leadership. At Giza, Megatron kills Sam. The Primes bring him back and give him the Matrix, and Sam is the one who revives Optimus. After the battle, he goes back to college.

Chicago

Three years later, Sam lives with his new girlfriend, Carly Spencer, and can't work with the Autobots anymore. He lands a job at Bruce Brazos's Accuretta Systems, where coworker Jerry Wang passes him information about the Ark before Laserbeak kills him. With Simmons, Sam learns the Decepticons left Sentinel Prime on the Moon on purpose.

Dylan Gould, Carly's boss, works for the Decepticons and kidnaps her. During the invasion of Chicago, Sam and Epps rescue Carly. Sam kills Starscream by blowing his head apart with one of Que's weapons and knocks Dylan into a Pillar, which electrocutes him. In the end, he and Carly are reunited.

The surname comes from the 1984 show, where the Autobots' human friend is Spike Witwicky, son of Sparkplug. Mikaela, Sam's first girlfriend, doesn't appear in Dark of the Moon: Megan Fox didn't return, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley came in as Carly.
