Rand al'Thor

Trollocs attack the farm and wound Tam. Moiraine heals him and says she has come for the Dragon Reborn, and Rand leaves with her and his friends. In Shadar Logoth, he and Mat get separated from the group and escape through an underground gate.

The two travel on with the gleeman Thom Merrilin. At an inn, the owner, a Darkfriend, sets a Myrddraal on them, and Thom kills her. Later a Myrddraal slaughters a whole family at a farm. In Tar Valon, Rand meets the Ogier Loial.

Through the Ways, the group barely escapes Machin Shin and reaches Fal Dara. Min, who sees images around people, confirms Rand is the Dragon, and he sets out with Moiraine into the Blight. Ishamael invades his dreams and offers to teach him the Power.

At the Eye of the World, Rand is shown a false future with Egwene and turns it down. He grabs the sa'angreal, defeats Ishamael and asks Moiraine to tell the others he died. Then he walks away alone.

Months later, Rand is hiding in Cairhien, and Lanfear draws close to him. When the Horn of Valere and his friends end up in Falme, she takes him through the Ways to the city.

There Rand kills High Lord Turak and his guards with the Power. Ishamael has the damane on the ships shield him, and the dagger Mat throws at Ishamael passes through an illusion and hits Rand. Elayne heals him. Rand strengthens his sword with the Power and kills Ishamael. He is proclaimed the Dragon Reborn, his palms branded by the heron on the blade.

In S3, Rand gives up on Tear and takes the group into the Aiel Waste. In Rhuidean, he relives his ancestors' lives and learns the Aiel were once pacifist servants of the Aes Sedai who broke their oath. He also sees Lanfear drilling through reality, which gave the Dark One access to the world. He passes the test and earns two dragon tattoos.

In the finale, he calls Lanfear a monster and turns away from her. Couladin, a Shaido, claims to be the Dragon with tattoos Lanfear gave him. Rand calls the clans oathbreakers and makes it rain in the Waste. The Aiel rally to him, and his next target is Callandor.

In the books, Rand and his friends start out as teenagers, and Moiraine is looking for just three boys. On the show, he's older and shares the question of who the Dragon is with Egwene, Nynaeve, Perrin and Mat. His romance with Egwene also lasts longer on screen.
