Paul Finch

Finch is the group's intellectual, older in spirit than his classmates. To gain a reputation, he pays Jessica to spread rumors about him, and it works. The fame doesn't last: Stifler puts a laxative in his coffee and exposes him in front of the school. At prom, Finch realizes the pact is silly pressure. At the after-party he gets close to Stifler's mom, and Stifler finds them together and faints. He ends the film looking like he knew exactly what he was doing. He's the first to say he sees no point in keeping the pact out of pressure alone, and he holds that line through prom.

In the second film, Finch gets into Tantra and spends the summer saving his energy for an encounter he believes will happen. He waits for Stifler's mom, but Stifler's younger brother shows up instead, and he's disappointed. On the last day a car pulls up and Stifler's mom finally appears. The two drive off together. At the final party, he, Jim and Oz persuade Kevin, who is struggling to move on from high school, to rejoin the group.

On the Chicago trip, Finch helps track down the dress designer. When Cadence appears, Stifler tries to seem as refined as Finch, and Finch pretends to be like Stifler. Cadence ends up liking them both. At the wedding, Finch sits alone on the dance floor until Stifler's mom arrives. They agree they're past that stage, but end the night together. Before that, he travels to Chicago with Jim, Stifler and Kevin to track down the dress designer, and the trail leads them to a bar.

Nine years later, Finch says he has traveled the world. In truth he works as a store manager and invented the story out of embarrassment. At the reunion he steals his boss's motorbike and is arrested. Later he admits the lie to Selena, Michelle's friend who had bonded with him over his supposed travels. He apologizes and makes amends. At the end he plans a real trip across Europe with her.

Eddie Kaye Thomas is among the original cast members who signed on for American Reunion, a film that reunited almost the whole team from the first.
