Minho

Minho is the Glade's head Runner and the person who knows the maze best. He runs every day through concrete corridors that change places, notes the routes and returns before the doors close. That taught him to be fast, quiet and alert. Ki Hong Lee plays him with dry humor and a loyalty he rarely admits aloud. Minho takes orders from no one without questioning them, but respects anyone who proves brave. Among a group of frightened boys, he is the closest thing to a field leader, and the group knows it.

Minho commands the Glade's Runners. He knows every corridor of the maze and that no Runner survives a night out there. When Thomas arrives, Minho tests him, distrusts him and watches him break rules. But after seeing Thomas enter the maze to save a friend, he starts to trust him. Together they find that the walls follow a pattern and help plan the escape. Minho is fast, sarcastic and shields the group with his body.

Outside the maze, Minho stays beside Thomas and the Gladers. He guides the group through the Scorch, across storms and ruins, and helps expose Janson's shelter. When WCKD finds the Right Arm's hideout, Minho is one of the Immunes captured. His disappearance marks the end of the film: Thomas swears to go after those left behind, and Minho becomes the reason for the final mission.

Minho spends the third film in WCKD's hands, in a lab in the Last City where scientists test the Immunes. Even locked up, he resists and tries to keep hope alive. Thomas, Newt and their friends cross dangerous lands and break into the city to bring him back. When they meet again, escaping WCKD's building is still far from easy, and everyone pays a heavy price.

In James Dashner's novels, Minho is also the Keeper of the Runners and Thomas's best friend. In the prequel The Fever Code and in The Death Cure's ending, his role grows. Book-versus-film differences are in the "What changed on screen" tab of the books saga.
