Manny is a grumpy woolly mammoth who starts the saga alone after losing his family. Over the films he gains friends, a wife, a daughter and a habit of overprotecting everyone, which is often what gets in the way. Ray Romano gives the original voice.
Everyone migrates south except Manny. He rescues Sid from two brontotheres but wants no company. A human baby changes the course, and in a cave of paintings he remembers his family killed by humans. At the end he returns the baby to his father and receives a shell necklace.
In the valley about to flood, Manny wonders if he's the last of his kind. He meets Ellie, raised among possums who thinks she's one. He hesitates because he feels he'd be replacing the wife and child he lost. When the dam fails, Manny goes back to save Ellie and, in the end, chooses to stay with her.
Ellie is pregnant, and Manny wants to make the world safe for the child. That pushes Diego away and irritates him with Sid, who adopts dinosaur eggs. When she goes into labor in the lost world, he climbs the trail to arrive in time. Peaches is born.
Peaches is a teenager, and Manny won't leave her alone. He drifts off with Sid, Diego and Granny and takes on Captain Gutt's pirates. After beating him, he reunites with his family. The herd moves to a new island.
Peaches gets engaged to Julian, and Manny finds him annoying and unable to protect her. During the asteroid hunt, Julian helps Manny push in the last crystal. Manny comes to accept him, and his daughter marries.
Ray Romano voices Manny in every film and in the Christmas special. Per Wikipedia, the special is set eight years after the third film.
