Knuckles is the last warrior of an echidna tribe. He starts as Robotnik's henchman, becomes a friend to Sonic and Tails and guards the Master Emerald. Idris Elba voices him. In his own series he trains a clumsy human to be a warrior.
Knuckles arrives on Earth after the Master Emerald to honor his ancestors and teams up with Robotnik. He reveals he lost his tribe the same day Sonic lost Longclaw, and starts to doubt Robotnik. Robotnik betrays him, and Knuckles joins Sonic and Tails. At the end he repairs the emerald and vows to guard it with the two.
In the series, Knuckles struggles to live in Green Hills and agrees to train Deputy Wade Whipple. The two cross the country to Reno, chased by corrupt G.U.N. agents. In episode four, Wade meets the spirit of the elder Pachacamac in a bowling alley. At the end, Knuckles uses the Flames of Disaster again.
In the third film, Knuckles is part of Team Sonic and goes with Tails to the Eclipse Cannon. The two help take down Gerald Robotnik and save Sonic from a fall, using a ring portal to take him back to Green Hills.
Knuckles debuted in the 1994 games, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckles. The series came out on April 26, 2024, near Sonic 3, as a nod to the double-feature games.
