Cindy Campbell

Cindy dates Bobby, who pressures her, and lives with her friends' fear that the accident they covered up a year earlier will come back. When the killer starts calling, she tries to convince her friends to go to the police. The night at home ends with a party, the killer's attack and a reveal: Bobby was an accomplice. In the end Cindy learns the killer is Officer Doofy, who was faking a disability, and she is hit by a car as the police leave.

Cindy is in college and takes part in a sleep experiment at a haunted mansion. There she meets Hanson, a caretaker with a deformed hand, a foul-mouthed parrot and the ghost of Hugh Kane. At one point she is possessed by the spirit of the former owner's wife. To beat the curse, she volunteers as bait to lure the ghost into a device that can destroy him. The plan works. Two months later she and Buddy are a couple, and the mansion still has one more surprise.

Now a TV reporter, Cindy investigates mysterious circles in fields while looking after her nephew Cody. When a friend dies after seeing a cursed tape, she watches it herself, gets the warning call and has seven days to save herself. A clue points to a lighthouse, and the Architect tells the story of Tabitha. Cindy grows close to George, brother of farmer Tom, and the two take on the spirit. In the end Cindy and George marry.

George has died, and Cindy takes a job looking after Mrs. Norris, who lives in a haunted house. Next door lives Tom Ryan, who is reuniting with his children, and the two grow close. A giant machine appears and starts attacking the town. Cindy reunites with Brenda, who had supposedly died, and together they reach an isolated village. Later the machine takes the pair to a bathroom where a puppet sets a deadly challenge. In the end Cindy saves Tom and his children.

Years later, Cindy has become a paranoid recluse, convinced the killer is trying to lure her out. She refuses to help her daughter Sara, but changes her mind and turns up at Brenda's house. At a decisive moment she steals a car and fights off a wave of Ghostfaces. When the plot is revealed, she reminds her old friends that the original four are back together, and that argument stops the killing. In the end Cindy and her friends make it clear: nobody is taking their series from them.

Anna Faris was planning to move to London when she auditioned for the first film. She sat out the fifth but came back for the sixth.
