Captain Dickson runs the Jump Street program, which puts cops undercover in schools. Ice Cube plays him in both films. He hands out the missions to Schmidt and Jenko.
Dickson is the captain who receives Schmidt and Jenko in the Jump Street program, an 80s project that was revived. He gives them new identities, enrolls them at Sagan High School and tells them to contain the synthetic drug HFS.
In the second film, the program is across the street at 22 Jump Street. Dickson puts the pair back to work after they fail to catch a dealer known as The Ghost. His daughter, Maya, studies at the college where the mission takes place.
The original TV series, 21 Jump Street, dates from the 80s. The film follows the same continuity, with Johnny Depp and Peter DeLuise in uncredited cameos.
