Buzz Lightyear

Buzz arrives in Andy's room convinced he's a real space ranger who needs to fix his ship. The shock comes when he sees a TV commercial and realizes he's a toy. Shaken, he still helps Woody get home.

When Woody is stolen, Buzz leads the rescue. Along the way he faces a new, boxed Buzz who thinks he's the real one, and the dreaded Zurg. Buzz's loyalty is tested in an almost comic way.

At the daycare, Buzz gets reset and starts speaking Spanish and acting like a romantic heartthrob. His friends try to fix him while escaping a tyrannical boss. When Buzz returns to normal, he helps the group get out safely.

In Toy Story 4, Buzz tries to follow his inner voice but confuses the recorded phrases in his own body with it. When Woody goes missing, he sets out to find his friend and lands in trouble at a carnival. The result is more comedy than action.

In Lightyear, Buzz is the human hero of the sci-fi movie Andy saw as a kid. He's a space ranger trying to fix a mistake, and he travels through time. It's the story behind the toy.

Tim Allen voices the toy in the Toy Story films. In Lightyear (2022), the character is the human hero, voiced by Chris Evans.
