Brenda Meeks

Brenda is Cindy's friend, Shorty's sister and the bluntest of the group. While the killer is on the prowl, she goes to the movies with Ray and talks nonstop through the show, irritating everyone. The annoyed audience chases her down and kills her as revenge. She dies mid-film, but her style marks the series from the first scene. The audience gets annoyed because she comments on every scene and spoils several movies for everyone else, which is why they chase her.

A year later, Brenda is in college, back with the group, and goes with her friends to Hell House. When the caretaker Hanson is possessed by Kane's ghost and carries off Shorty, Brenda, Cindy and Theo team up to fight him in an over-the-top choreographed brawl. She loses, but Cindy manages to drive the spirit out.

In Scary Movie 3, Brenda is the closest friend of Cindy, now a reporter. She watches the cursed tape and asks her friend to stay with her. After a few pranks, she is killed by Tabitha, the entity in the tape. The friends try to revive her right at the wake, and the scene becomes one of the film's most remembered moments.

In Scary Movie 4, Brenda reappears alive, with no explanation, and reunites with Cindy. The two follow a ghost's clues to an isolated village, where they are put on trial and forbidden to leave. Later they are taken to the puppet's room and face a deadly challenge. At the end of the story, Brenda has a baby with the puppet's brother, Zoltar. Captured by the machine, the two are taken to the bathroom from the prologue, where the deadly-game puppet is waiting. There Cindy works out who the ghost boy's real father is.

In the sixth film, Brenda wants to be called Ma. Married to Ray, she now goes to church, has teenage kids, Brad and Dei, and her house becomes the group's meeting point. The final showdown begins at the costume party she hosts. Brenda and Cindy join Shorty and Ray to face the new Ghostfaces and, in the end, defend the series' legacy.

Aaliyah was offered the role and declined out of respect for Brandy, whom the spoof referenced. Regina Hall wouldn't return for the fifth film without Anna Faris.
