Brad Wolgast

Brad works for the government and is good at it. His marriage to Dr. Lila Kyle is behind him, and work fills the space it left. The new order sounds simple: pick up a girl and hand her to Project Noah, no questions asked.

Once he meets Amy, Brad asks exactly the questions he shouldn't. He finds out what the project wants to do with her and runs with her, knowing it will make him a target.

On the run, Brad is hunted by people he knows well, like Clark Richards, a former CIA operative he trained himself. When Amy ends up inside the project, his mission becomes getting her out alive.

Along the way, Lila comes back into his life. Brad, who started the story as an obedient soldier, ends the season as the father Amy chose.

After Carter bites Lila, Brad stays behind on Level 4B to free Major Nichole Sykes and get the antiviral. Babcock runs when he shows up. Sykes stays to hold off the virals and dies in the blast. Brad escapes with the cure, which saves Lila.

A month later, Brad, Amy and Lila hide in a cabin in Joseph, Oregon, waiting for a CDC helicopter. Lila leaves with a medical team bound for Atlanta. A newly infected neighbor bites Brad. Amy gives him the last dose of the serum and leaves him a note. Brad wakes up with no idea where she went.

In the 2116 scene, Amy says she hasn't felt Brad in years, but she'd know if he were dead. With the cancellation, his fate was left open.

In Justin Cronin's books, Wolgast is an FBI agent, and his bond with Amy is the heart of the first book.
