The old pawnbroker who has hunted vampires for decades

The man nobody listens to

When the plane lands at JFK, Setrakian is the only one who understands what arrived. He insists the bodies be destroyed and the coffin stay at the airport, but nobody takes the pawnbroker seriously.

Flashbacks show where his war began: at Treblinka, young Setrakian saw the Master feed on prisoners and crossed paths with Thomas Eichhorst, the Nazi officer who now serves the vampire. In his shop he keeps what works against the strigoi: silver blades and ultraviolet lamps. Bit by bit, Eph, Nora and Fet start following him. At the end of the season, he and Eph drive the Master into sunlight. The vampire comes out burned but escapes.

Chasing the Lumen

Setrakian follows vampire blood to Vaun's crew and is taken to the Ancients, the other original vampires. There he makes a secret deal: he'll tell them where the Master is. Meanwhile, he hunts the Occido Lumen, an old book that may explain how to end the enemy. In the last episode, he wins the Lumen at auction. Eichhorst and his army spring an ambush, and Setrakian gets out only because Quinlan and Gus show up.

A deal with the enemy

Eldritch Palmer, near death, comes to Setrakian to bargain for the white essence. The two plan to lure the Master to Stoneheart headquarters and seal him in a silver-lined sarcophagus. For Setrakian, who spent his life hunting the Master, it is the closest he has ever come. The trap works until Zach sets off the nuclear bomb and frees the Master.

Settling the score

In the nuclear winter, Setrakian and Dutch are captured and taken to the Desai blood facility. The team rescues them. Setrakian finally settles his score with Eichhorst and beheads him, closing a story that began at Treblinka. Later, he asks Quinlan to behead him too.
