Quick recap

Helen Lyle, an anthropology grad student in Chicago, studies how Cabrini-Green residents use the Candyman legend: say his name five times in the mirror and he shows up with a hook for a hand. She traces the story to a painter, the son of a slave, lynched in the late 1800s, and doesn't buy any of it. Then Candyman really appears. To keep the legend alive, he kills and leaves Helen as the suspect. Committed, she escapes and goes after baby Anthony, whom he took. Candyman tries to burn them both on a bonfire. Helen destroys him, saves the baby and dies. At the end, her husband says her name in the mirror, and Helen's spirit kills him with the hook.
