Quick recap
Xcor, leader of the Band of Bastards, has been captured and convicted of treason against Wrath. Held by the Brotherhood, he awaits interrogation and execution, regretting only the loss of Layla, the Chosen he loved in secret. Layla, now mother to Qhuinn's twins, knows something that could save Xcor, but telling it would expose them both and risk her place with her children. An old enemy returns to Caldwell, and the identity of a new deity is revealed. In the end, Xcor is spared and swears loyalty to Wrath, the Bastards fight alongside the Brotherhood, and Layla and Xcor are together.
