Quick recap

Payne, Vishous's twin, spent centuries imprisoned by their mother, the Scribe Virgin. Free at last, she suffers a serious spinal injury. The Brotherhood calls in Manny Manello, the human surgeon who used to be Jane's boss, to operate. A strong attraction sparks between them, but the vampire world doesn't usually let humans remember it. Manny fights to stay, and Payne fights to walk again. In the end, Payne recovers and Manny chooses a life with her, stepping into the Brotherhood's world for good.
