Quick recap

Bane, a criminal whose strength is boosted by a drug, blows open Arkham and frees all the villains at once. The plan is to wear Batman down: refusing Robin's help, he spends weeks recapturing one foe after another until he hits his physical and mental limit. Bane, who has already figured out who he is, waits at Wayne Manor. Exhausted, Batman loses: Bane breaks his back over his knee and throws him from a height in the middle of Gotham for all to see. Bruce survives but is left paraplegic, and Bane takes over the city's underworld. Unable to act, Bruce hands the cowl to Jean-Paul Valley, Azrael, so Gotham isn't left unprotected. The volume ends with the new Batman on the job.
