On a planet split between the União and the Empire of the Sun, biological and nuclear weapons gave rise to Anomalies, people with mutations and special abilities. In the União they live in Special Cities, need a permit to leave and must wear something yellow. Sybil Varuna comes from Kali, a poor zone on the front line, and wants to dodge military service. The only survivor of a shipwreck, she learns she is an Anomaly and moves in with an adoptive family in the largest Anomaly city. Soon the government recruits her and other Anomaly teens for a secret mission that turns their powers into weapons. On the way to the Ilha dos Dissidentes, the group uncovers government plans, and the mission becomes a fight for equality and justice.
