Anita is dating Richard Zeeman, a teacher and werewolf, but still struggles to accept the monster side of him. Members of the local werewolf pack and other shapeshifters around town start disappearing, and they ask Anita for help, maybe because she is dating someone important in the pack. Marcus, the leader, and his mate Raina have plans of their own and dislike her pull on Richard. Meanwhile, Jean-Claude refuses to lose Anita and proposes a deal to compete for her fairly. Anita digs into the disappearances while deciding whether to accept Richard's marriage proposal. The case leads her toward whoever is killing the city's shapeshifters and forces her to pick a side.
