On a mission in North Korea, Bond causes the apparent death of Colonel Moon, but is captured and tortured for 14 months. Traded for the terrorist Zao, he's stripped of his 00 status: M believes he talked under torture. Bond escapes, convinced someone betrayed him, and follows Zao from Hong Kong to Cuba, where he meets NSA agent Jinx and finds a gene therapy clinic that changes faces. The trail leads to billionaire Gustav Graves and his suspicious diamonds. At Graves's ice palace in Iceland, Bond learns Graves is Colonel Moon with a new face, and that agent Miranda Frost is the traitor. Graves's Icarus satellite is meant to clear the way for an invasion of the South. On the plane, Jinx kills Frost and Bond sends Graves into the engine.
