Turtle has felt useless since he was a dragonet, and he hides that he's an animus. When Darkstalker rises from under the mountain, Turtle enchants a stick to vanish from his awareness. Darkstalker comes to Jade Mountain, does good deeds and charms the students into trusting him. Then he recruits Turtle's sister Anemone and leads the NightWings to the old Night Kingdom. Turtle learns that years ago he himself gave Anemone her animus power. Darkstalker senses the magic and summons every animus in Pyrrhia. Turtle takes the blame to shield his sister and Kinkajou, who blinds one of Darkstalker's eyes and escapes. Turtle loses his power and is locked up, but Qibli has been warned.
