Quick recap

Sydney Sage, a human Alchemist, is under watch for helping Rose and Dimitri. To redeem herself, she takes a mission: pose as Jill Dragomir's older sister at a Palm Springs prep school. If Jill dies, Lissa has no family left and loses the throne. Jill has already died once and was brought back by Adrian Ivashkov's spirit magic, so now the two are bonded. In Palm Springs, Sydney uncovers a ring that sells drug-like Alchemist tattoos and traffics Moroi blood. She also ties local deaths to Lee Donahue, a restored Strigoi. In the end, Lee tries to become Strigoi again, goes after Jill and dies.
