Eric is hurt that Sookie used the cluviel dor to save Sam instead of freeing him from his arranged marriage. Arlene gets out of prison with help from a mysterious group, asks for her job back and turns up dead. Sookie is arrested for the murder. Her demon godfather Desmond and other friends help her. Sookie and Sam start something, slowly. Johan Glassport and Steve Newlin kidnap her, with Claude driving, and she escapes after a crash in a cornfield. Johan and Claude are shot dead, and Steve confesses before he dies that they killed Arlene. In the end, Sookie is a bridesmaid at Jason and Michele's wedding and figures she'll be with Sam by Christmas.
