Quick recap

The Decepticons have won. Megatron has beaten Optimus Prime, taken the Matrix of Leadership and attacked New York and other American cities, holding their people hostage. Optimus lies badly wounded on Cybertron, where the Autobots are stranded and suspect a traitor in their ranks. On Earth, human survivors such as Commander Andy Reid and Spike Witwicky organize a resistance. Meanwhile, a new robot, Drift, turns up with a story of his own. The book closes the saga's first half with the Autobots still far from Earth, unsure they can get back, and New York under Megatron's control.
