Quick recap

The Commonwealth's inequality turns into a crisis. Pamela's spoiled son, Sebastian, stirs up trouble, and Rick helps expose the corruption. Dwight wants to settle things with guns, and Rick makes a drastic call to head off a war. The workers revolt, Pamela falls and Rick becomes the people's figurehead. Humiliated, Sebastian kills Rick in his sleep, and Carl has to put down his reanimated father. The final issue jumps decades ahead: in a rebuilt world, an adult Carl, married to Sophia, tells his daughter who Rick Grimes was. The series ends there, with no continuation in the main comic.

    Kirkman kept the ending secret, even putting out fake solicitations through issue #196. Issue #193 was announced as the last on July 3, 2019, with no warning.
