Quick recap

Jake Pierce belongs to a group of young people who watch Samara's tape in turns, testing how close to day seven they can get. Each films their own face while watching and hands the copy to the next person. Jake is on day six and loses his nerve. The next in line, Tim, refuses to watch, because another member of the group wants to see what happens on day seven. Desperate, Jake picks a classmate, Emily, to go next. The short ends where The Ring Two begins.
