Brief Cases collects 12 stories in chronological order, nearly all first published in anthologies. There's a western with a young Anastasia Luccio, Harry's adventures with a Bigfoot friend, a case told by Molly and others told by Harry at different points in the series. The new one is "Zoo Day," set after Skin Game, in which Harry takes his daughter to the zoo and the same afternoon is told from three points of view. The collection fills the gaps up to the end of Skin Game.
