Quick recap

1323. Baron Roger Mortimer escapes the Tower of London and takes refuge in France, where Robert of Artois takes him in. In England, Edward II is ruled by his favorites, the Despensers, and humiliates Queen Isabella. Sent to Paris to negotiate with her brother, King Charles IV, Isabella meets Mortimer, and the two become lovers and allies. With troops from Hainaut they land in England in 1326. The Despensers are executed, Edward II is deposed and his young son becomes Edward III. Edward II dies a prisoner at Berkeley Castle, and Isabella and Mortimer rule in the boy's place.
