The last filler arc of the first series. Rogue ninja from Takumi Village, the Shitenshōnin, kidnap Matsuri, Gaara's student, to lure out Gaara and feed the Shukaku into the village's forbidden weapon. Konoha sends support in pairs, from Shikamaru and Ino to Naruto and Lee. The four warriors fall, but their leader, Hōki, sacrifices himself to bring back Seimei, their old master, as the Ultimate Weapon. Gaara destroys Seimei and saves Matsuri. After the mission, Naruto says goodbye to his friends and leaves with Jiraiya for two and a half years of training.
