During Sasuke and Gaara's fight, Chidori wounds Gaara, and that's the signal for Sand and Sound to invade Konoha. Orochimaru, posing as the Kazekage, traps the Third Hokage in a barrier and summons the first two Hokage to fight his own teacher. Meanwhile Gaara turns into Shukaku, and Naruto, helped by the giant toad Gamabunta, beats a rival whose past mirrors his own. The Third uses a seal that costs him his life and takes away the use of Orochimaru's arms, forcing him to retreat. The invasion is stopped, but Konoha loses its Hokage and says goodbye at a funeral in the rain.
