Quick recap

On Catalina, Sgt. Stilwell acts on a tip and stakes out a remote mountain airstrip. A drug drop by plane goes wrong: shots are fired, one colleague is killed, another badly wounded, and the plane escapes, leaving a duffel of narcotics behind. Sidelined during an internal inquiry, Stilwell keeps digging on his own. The trail links the attack to Angela Metier, who vanished on a hike four years earlier, and bones found under an ironwood tree appear to be hers. The case brings him to the LAPD's cold-case unit and Renée Ballard. Together they pursue a park ranger who may be a serial killer, while a sniper takes aim at Stilwell.
