Full story

The opening covers the origin in a few minutes. At Culver University in Virginia, General Thaddeus Ross runs an experiment he claims will make people immune to gamma radiation. It is really an attempt to recreate the super soldier. Scientist Bruce Banner, who is dating the general's daughter Betty Ross, takes a massive dose of gamma. He turns into the Hulk, wrecks the lab and hurts several people, Betty included. He has been on the run ever since.

Five years later, Banner lives in a Rio de Janeiro favela and works at a soda bottling plant. He does yoga and breathing drills, wears a pulse monitor and keeps his heart rate under 200. Online he trades messages with a mysterious contact called “Mr. Blue,” hunting for a cure. A cut finger drips his blood into a bottle that ends up with an old man in the U.S. Ross traces it and sends a team led by soldier Emil Blonsky. During the chase through the factory, Banner changes and the Hulk takes everyone down.

Blonsky becomes obsessed. Ross tells him how the Hulk was made and offers him a version of the super-soldier serum. Blonsky gets faster and stronger. Banner, back in the States, finds Betty at the university. The military attacks on campus, Blonsky takes on the Hulk and nearly dies from one kick, but heals far too quickly. The Hulk escapes with Betty, and they spend a quiet night in a cave.

In New York they meet Mr. Blue, who turns out to be biologist Samuel Sterns. Sterns tests an antidote, and Banner comes through without turning into the monster. But Sterns admits he has mass-produced Banner's blood and wants to tap its power. Soldiers grab Banner. Blonsky, now out of control, forces Sterns to inject him with Banner's blood. He becomes the Abomination, bigger than the Hulk, and starts tearing up Harlem. A drop of blood falls into a cut on Sterns's head, and his skull begins to change.

Ross realizes only the Hulk can stop this. Banner jumps from a helicopter to force the change. In the fight through the streets, the Hulk wraps a chain around the Abomination's neck and almost kills him, but stops when Betty asks. Then he leaps away. Months later, Banner is in a cabin in Canada, and at the end of a meditation his eyes turn green on purpose. In the final scene, Tony Stark finds Ross in a bar and tells him a team is being put together.
