Full story

Season 1. Reed Strucker is a prosecutor who has spent years putting mutants away. Everything changes when his son, Andy, unleashes a destructive power at a school dance, and his daughter, Lauren, reveals she has been hiding powers for years. With Sentinel Services, the government's anti-mutant agency, on their tail, Reed and his wife, Caitlin, go on the run with the kids. Reed gets caught. Caitlin and the kids take shelter with the mutant underground, a hidden network in Atlanta led by Eclipse (Marcos Diaz), Polaris (Lorna Dane, Magneto's daughter), Thunderbird (John Proudstar) and Blink (Clarice Fong). Polaris is locked up too, and pregnant with Marcos's child.

Agent Jace Turner, who lost his daughter in a mutant attack, hunts the group. Reed is forced to work with Sentinel Services but ends up helping the mutants and rejoins his family. The Struckers learn they descend from the Fenris twins, a mutant brother-and-sister pair who spread terror years ago, and that Andy and Lauren together can tear through almost anything. Behind the captures is Dr. Roderick Campbell of Trask Industries and his Hound program, which turns mutants into government bloodhounds. The group also gets help from the Frost sisters, three identical telepaths. During the raid on Trask to free captured mutants, the Frosts reveal a different agenda: they work for the Hellfire Club. In the end, Polaris, now free, decides hiding isn't enough and leaves with them. Andy goes too, walking away from his family.

Season 2. Six months later, the Club has become the Inner Circle, run by Reeva Payge, whose scream can destroy. Polaris gives birth to her daughter, Dawn, and ends up handing the baby to an aunt to keep her safe. Andy and Lauren are on opposite sides. The shrinking underground teams up with the Morlocks in the sewers, led by Erg. Reed starts showing an unstable power that runs in the family. On the other side, the Purifiers, a violent anti-mutant group, grow with help from TV host Benedict Ryan, and Turner drifts toward them. Reeva kills Sage, and Polaris starts doubting the Circle.

In the last episodes, the Frosts take over Andy and Lauren's minds, and the two bring down Sentinel Services headquarters. Their friends manage to rescue them. Reed goes after Reeva knowing his power is out of control and explodes, killing them both. Esme Frost breaks from her sisters, forces Benedict to confess his part in the attacks and joins the underground. Polaris and Marcos get Dawn back. John and Erg agree the mutants need new leadership. In the last scene, Blink comes out of a portal and says she wants to show them something. The show was canceled in April 2019, and that cliffhanger was never answered.
