Full story

In Moscow, Talos is chasing an agent who is really a Skrull in disguise. Maria Hill arrives to help and is killed by Gravik, the leader of a rebel Skrull faction. Nick Fury returns to Earth after years on the S.A.B.E.R. space station and learns how bad things are. About a million Skrulls are hiding on the planet, some in positions of power, and Gravik wants to use them to start a war between humans and claim Earth as their new home. Fury tries to stop a bombing in Moscow and fails.

Flashbacks show that in 1997 Fury promised the Skrull refugees a new planet and never delivered. Gravik was one of the young Skrulls who worked for him, and that is where the grudge comes from. In the present, Fury loses government backing: Colonel Rhodes, who is actually a Skrull named Raava, pushes him out. Fury also reveals he is married to Varra, a Skrull living on Earth as Priscilla. His only official ally is Sonya Falsworth of British intelligence.

Gravik starts building Super-Skrulls, using heroes' DNA to give powers to himself and his followers. He tries to make the British Navy fire on the UN. G'iah, Talos's daughter, is undercover in Gravik's group and helps her father abort the launch. Gravik shoots her and leaves her for dead, but G'iah survives thanks to the powers she absorbed. Talos is not so lucky: Gravik kills him during an ambush on President Ritson's convoy.

Fury and Falsworth track down the Harvest, a bank holding the DNA of nearly every hero on Earth, hidden in a grave marked with Fury's name. Gravik demands it. In the final showdown, Fury brings the Harvest, but the one who uses it is G'iah, disguised as Fury. Both Skrulls gain dozens of powers and fight until G'iah kills Gravik. At the same time, Falsworth tricks Raava, saves the president, and takes out the impostor.

The win is bitter. Ritson, convinced of the threat, declares every off-world being an enemy, and the hunt for Skrulls spreads. G'iah, now one of the most powerful beings on the planet, agrees to work with Falsworth. Fury and Varra head to S.A.B.E.R. to try to negotiate peace with the Kree, and the future of the Skrulls on Earth is left open.
