Full story
Sergei Kravinoff and his younger half-brother, Dmitri, lose their mother as kids. Their father, Nikolai, a hard and cruel Russian crime boss, wants them to learn to be predators so they can inherit his empire. On a hunt in Ghana, Sergei shields Dmitri from a lion and gets mauled. Close to death, he's saved by a girl, Calypso, who gives him a serum made by her grandmother. Nikolai kills the lion to teach a lesson about weakness. Disgusted, Sergei runs away and hides at the animal sanctuary his mother kept in Russia. The serum works on him over time: he gains strength, speed and a beast's senses.
Sixteen years later, Sergei is Kraven, a hunter who stalks criminals around the world. He opens by breaking into a Russian prison to kill a trafficker. Then he goes to London for Dmitri's birthday, but the reunion is cut short: mercenaries kidnap his brother. Nikolai refuses to pay the ransom. So Kraven tracks down Calypso, now a lawyer, and gets her to help.
The kidnapper is Aleksei Sytsevich, a criminal who went through an experiment and can turn into a rhino-like creature. Aleksei wants to topple Nikolai and tries to use Dmitri to do it. When he learns Kraven is the hostage's brother, he sets up an ambush at a monastery in Turkey. Kraven survives, and Aleksei hires the Foreigner, an assassin who hypnotizes victims with his eyes.
The two villains hit Kraven at the sanctuary and knock him out with a neurotoxin. Calypso kills the Foreigner with a crossbow and revives Kraven. In the final fight, Kraven uses a buffalo stampede to corner Aleksei, who turns into the Rhino but ends up dead. Afterward, Kraven learns Nikolai played everyone, using his sons to get rid of Aleksei. He settles the score: he takes the bullets out of his father's rifle and leaves him to face a bear, which kills him.
A year later, Kraven visits Dmitri and gets a shock. His brother has taken over their father's business and can now change his face and shape. Dmitri says they're the same, both hunters. At home, Kraven finds a vest made from the hide of the lion his father killed years ago. He puts it on. What Dmitri will do with his new power is left open.
