Full story

In 1995, Vers is a warrior in the Kree Starforce on the planet Hala. She has no memory of her past, keeps dreaming about a woman she doesn't know and trains under commander Yon-Rogg, who keeps telling her to control her emotions and the energy that blasts from her hands. The Kree are at war with the Skrulls, aliens who can change shape.

On a rescue mission, Vers is captured by Skrull leader Talos. A probe digs through her mind and turns up memories of Earth. She escapes and crashes into Los Angeles, right through the roof of a video store. There she meets two S.H.I.E.L.D. agents: Nick Fury, still a rookie with both eyes, and Phil Coulson. After chasing a Skrull on a train, Vers recovers a crystal holding some of her memories. Fury ends up as her partner, suspicious as he is.

The clues lead to an Air Force project. Vers learns she is Carol Danvers, a pilot presumed dead since 1989. She was testing an experimental engine designed by Dr. Wendy Lawson, the woman from her dreams. The pair escapes with Lawson's cat, Goose, and heads to Louisiana, home of Carol's best friend Maria Rambeau and her daughter Monica. Maria helps Carol piece together the life she lost.

Talos shows up unarmed and flips everything. The Skrulls are refugees running from a Kree genocide. Lawson was Mar-Vell, a Kree scientist who wanted the engine to carry them out of the empire's reach. The black box recording shows the truth: Yon-Rogg killed Mar-Vell, Carol destroyed the engine to keep its power from him and absorbed the energy. The Kree took her, wiped her memory and gave her an implant to hold her powers back.

Lawson's hidden lab in orbit holds Skrull refugees and the Tesseract. Yon-Rogg arrives with the Starforce. Carol rips out the implant, unleashes her full power and wipes out the missiles and a warship sent by Ronan the Accuser, who pulls back. Goose turns out to be a Flerken, swallows the Tesseract and scratches Fury's eye, leaving him blind on one side. Carol beats Yon-Rogg without breaking a sweat and sends him back to Hala with a message. Then she leaves to help the Skrulls find a home and gives Fury a modified pager for emergencies. Fury names his super-hero plan after Carol's old pilot call sign. She vanishes into space, and the promise of that pager is left open.

Quick recap

In 1995, Vers is an amnesiac Kree warrior trained by Yon-Rogg to fight the Skrulls, shape-shifting aliens. Captured by the Skrull Talos, she escapes and crash-lands in Los Angeles, where she meets a rookie Nick Fury, still with both eyes, and agent Phil Coulson. With Fury and her friend Maria Rambeau, she learns she is Carol Danvers, a pilot presumed dead in 1989. Scientist Wendy Lawson was really Mar-Vell, a Kree helping Skrull refugees, and Yon-Rogg killed her. The Kree lied to Carol. She rips out the implant limiting her power, beats Yon-Rogg and leaves to help the Skrulls. Goose the cat turns out to be a Flerken, swallows the Tesseract and scratches Fury's eye. Carol leaves him a pager.

Carol crashes from the sky into a Blockbuster and blows the head off a True Lies standee of Schwarzenegger. The store was built in a storefront in North Hollywood, California.

  4. Behind the scenesYoung Fury the whole movie

  5. Behind the scenesFour cats and a puppet

Goose was played by four cats: Reggie, Archie, Rizzo and Gonzo. Brie Larson is allergic to cats, so in some scenes she's holding a puppet.
