Hiccup and other young warriors are taken to the island of Flashburn's School of Swordfighting. They have three weeks to train for a sword contest on New Year's Day. The only person at the school is the witch Excellinor. She says the dragons are in a rage and that the contest will choose the next king of the Wilderwest, according to a prophecy listing the things the king must have. Without knowing it, Hiccup has already collected nearly all of them. Winning the contest looks easy. Keeping the prize is another story.
