Quick recap

Retired after nearly dying while catching Dr. Lecktor, Will Graham is talked into helping Jack Crawford catch the Tooth Fairy, a killer who murders whole families and leaves bite marks. Will visits Lecktor in prison, who secretly sends the killer Will's home address. Will's family goes into hiding. The killer is Francis Dollarhyde, who works at a St. Louis film lab and picks victims from the home movies he develops. He gets involved with Reba, a blind coworker, and kidnaps her out of jealousy. Will figures out the home-movie link, reaches his house, crashes through a window and kills Dollarhyde. Then he goes home to his family.

  2. Behind the scenesBlame Year of the Dragon

The film was going to be called Red Dragon. Dino De Laurentiis changed it after Michael Cimino's Year of the Dragon flopped in 1985. Mann thought the new title was worse.

  3. ReferenceA prisoner's song

Mann corresponded with imprisoned killer Dennis Wayne Wallace, who thought of Iron Butterfly's "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" as "their song." That's how the track ended up in the film.
