With Energon running low, Cobra Commander chases a strange signal in Mexico's Chihuahuan Desert. It's a trap: the Dreadnok Ripper crushes his hand, and Destro announces that Cobra now belongs to him. Duke, who was tracking the same signal, arrests the Commander, and the two have to flee the Dreadnoks together. Cornered, the Commander hires the Dreadnoks to kill the Joes. Clutch tells Hound to transform, the Commander gets away, and Duke learns the team's secret. At the Pit, Colonel Hawk turns out to be Zartan in disguise. In the end, Shooter recruits Roadblock, and the returning Commander learns from Bludd's mechanical eyes that Destro was behind the attempt on Bludd's life.
