Newel and Doren, Fablehaven's prankster satyrs, helped end the dragon rebellion, and now they're growing up, which scares them more than any monster. Several residents of the preserve, fellow satyrs among them, have been turned to stone, maybe by a gorgon. An informant tells them about the Listening Doll, a legendary talisman hidden in the Florida swamplands that can reveal cures for magical ailments and maybe even a way to stop aging. So off they go. The trip doubles as training for the Satyr Games, where Barrett and Hoff, two new rivals armed with a smartphone, want to take their title.
