Quick recap

Rotterdam, around 2170. Bean is a tiny street kid far too smart for his age. He joins Poke's crew and warns her that the bully Achilles is dangerous; Achilles wins the group over and kills Poke. Sister Carlotta recruits Bean for the Fleet, and he reaches Battle School, where everyone compares him to Ender. Bean studies the system, uncovers the school's secrets and becomes a key piece of Ender's army. He also exposes Achilles as a murderer. Before Ender does, he figures out that the final simulations are real attacks. After the war, Bean learns he has a genetic condition that will likely cut his life short, meets his real parents and gains a brother, Nikolai.
