Quick recap

Sergeant Doakes suspects Dexter and starts tailing him, which keeps Dexter from acting. A mutilated man leads Doakes to Doctor Danco, a torturer who served with him in El Salvador and has come to Miami for revenge on his old comrades, removing his victims' body parts while keeping them alive. Danco grabs Kyle Chutsky, Deborah's boyfriend. Dexter rescues Chutsky at an alligator farm, but Danco escapes with Doakes and later captures Dexter himself. Deborah arrives in time, kills Danco and saves her brother. Doakes survives without his hands, feet and tongue. Along the way, Dexter accidentally gets engaged to Rita and notices her kids, Cody and Astor, share his dark side.
