Justice League

With Superman dead, the three Mother Boxes awaken and draw Steppenwolf, who tried to conquer Earth millennia ago. He hits Themyscira and Atlantis and takes two boxes. Bruce Wayne and Diana recruit Barry Allen, Victor Stone and, after a refusal, Arthur Curry. Victor, whose body was rebuilt with the third box, hands it to the team. They use it to resurrect Superman, who comes back confused and attacks them until Lois Lane calms him. Steppenwolf grabs the last box and starts remaking Earth near an abandoned Russian town. With Superman back, the League corners him, and his fear draws his own Parademons, who carry him off. Clark returns to the Daily Planet.

• Mid-credits Clark and Barry argue over who's faster and bet on a race to the ocean. The scene freezes the instant they take off.
• After the credits Lex Luthor, broken out of Arkham Asylum, welcomes Slade Wilson, Deathstroke, aboard a yacht. Lex says that if the heroes have a league, they should have one of their own.

   Danny Elfman brought back the theme he wrote for 1989's Batman and used John Williams' 1978 Superman march for the hero's big moments.

2. Behind the scenesThe erased mustache

   During reshoots Henry Cavill had a mustache for Mission: Impossible – Fallout, and Paramount wouldn't let him shave. It was removed digitally, and Superman's upper lip became a running joke.
