Quick recap

In Cornwall, where his aunt Joan is fighting cancer, Strike is approached by Anna Phipps. Her mother, GP Margot Bamborough, vanished in 1974 after leaving her Clerkenwell practice. Police at the time blamed Dennis Creed, a serial killer jailed for decades, but he never confessed. Strike and Robin give themselves a year to crack it. They question colleagues, patients and relatives, interview Creed and stand by Joan in her final days. The killer is Janice Beattie, the practice nurse, who poisoned several people over the years. Margot's remains are found, and Anna can finally bury her mother.
