Linus Caldwell

Linus is a pickpocket Danny pulls into the job. He is assigned to tail Terry Benedict and finds out Benedict is dating Tess, Danny's ex-wife. On the night, he enters the Bellagio posing as a gaming official and goes down to the vault with Danny. The two drop down the elevator shaft after the city's power goes out.

When Linus reports that Benedict is dating Tess, Rusty thinks Danny wants his ex-wife back and asks to call off the heist. Danny refuses, and the crew goes on. Linus stays in the plan and, on the night, enters the Bellagio as a gaming official.

When Isabel Lahiri captures most of the crew, Linus, Basher, Turk and Saul get away. Linus invents a second plan for the Fabergé egg: Tess will pose as a pregnant Julia Roberts to get close to it. Europol catches them anyway. Linus is taken first to the FBI agent for questioning, and the agent turns out to be his mother, who arranges everyone's release.

With Benedict's deadline running, the crew tries a job in Amsterdam and finds the Night Fox got there first. Saul chooses to sit out, too old for another big job. Linus, Basher, Turk and Saul escape Europol when Isabel Lahiri captures the rest, and Linus is the one who thinks up the plan to take the Fabergé egg.

In Thirteen, Linus seduces Willy Bank's assistant, Abigail Sponder, to reach the diamond case at the top of the casino. When the fake FBI arrests him for swapping the diamonds with fakes, the agent is his father, Robert, picked by Danny. The two try to flee across the roof, and the thief Toulour takes the diamonds, which were never swapped.

The plan against Willy Bank has two fronts: strip the hotel of its Five Diamond award and rig every game. The problem is the Greco, an AI system that detects cheating from players' bodily reactions. The crew plans to shut it down with a magnetron disguised as a cell phone and to use a Channel Tunnel drill to fake an earthquake. Linus is the one who approaches Bank's assistant.

Linus Caldwell was created for the 2001 remake. Matt Damon took the part after Mark Wahlberg left the cast to make Planet of the Apes. Damon filmed a return scene for Ocean's 8 (2018), which was cut.
