Fifty Shades Darker

Ana's boss

Jack Hyde is an editor at Seattle Independent Publishing. His last three assistants quit within eighteen months, without notice. He invites Ana for a drink after work and expects her to join him on a book-expo trip to New York. When Ana refuses, Jack tries to assault her at the office and she escapes. Christian gets him fired, and Ana is promoted to acting editor in his place. It is the first sign that Jack does not accept losing.

The avenger

Jack vanishes from the company but stays in the shadows. The end of Fifty Shades Darker shows him from afar, watching the engagement-party fireworks and swearing revenge. In Fifty Shades Freed he steals files from Christian's company, tries to kidnap Ana and is arrested. Released on a $500,000 bond, he kidnaps Mia, Christian's sister, and demands $5 million in cash in two hours. Ana goes alone. Investigators learn that Jack and Christian grew up in the same foster family.
