Butler

Butler is the Fowl family's bodyguard and practically raised Artemis. With the boy's father always traveling, he's the one by Artemis's side at Fowl Manor in Ireland, and the one who takes every idea from that 12-year-old head seriously.

When Artemis Fowl I vanishes and a hooded captor demands the Aculos within three days, Butler doesn't argue with the plan. He helps pull it off.

Artemis's plan needs a fairy, and Butler is there when the two of them capture Holly Short, a captain in the LEP, the fairy police. He guards the prisoner and defends the house while the LEP freezes time around the manor and surrounds it.

For Butler, the job is the same as ever: keep Artemis alive, no matter who's on the other side.

Lieutenant Briar Cudgeon, secretly working for Opal Koboi, lets a troll loose inside the manor. The creature jams the magic in the house and goes after anyone in its way.

Butler takes on the troll head-on and is mortally wounded. The one who saves him is Holly, the prisoner, who uses her own magic to heal him. It's the moment both sides start to trust each other.

Butler lives to see the plan through: Holly uses the Aculos to bring Artemis's father back to the manor, and Koboi's attempt on his life is stopped. The Aculos goes back to the fairies.

Artemis vows to hunt down Koboi's accomplices, and Butler, as always, goes with him, now alongside Holly and Mulch.

The team's last job is picking up Mulch Diggums, the dwarf thief who had tunneled into the manor and ended up arrested and questioned by the human authorities. After Mulch confirms on camera that magic is real, the Fowl helicopter arrives to rescue him.

For Butler, the list of people to protect just got longer: besides Artemis and his father, there's now a fairy and a dwarf on the same team. The job hasn't changed. It just got bigger.

Nonso Anozie plays Butler in the movie. In the books, Butler is Eurasian, and critics questioned the casting. On the page, his first name, Domovoi, is a secret almost no one knows, and the Butler family has served the Fowls for generations.
