Quick recap

The late 1950s. Mauricio Valls, a power broker in Franco's regime, vanishes. The secret police send Alicia Gris, a cold agent carrying a wound from the war, and Captain Vargas to Barcelona. The clues lead to the books of a forgotten writer and to crimes the regime tried to bury, committed against political prisoners and their families. Meanwhile, Daniel Sempere, obsessed with avenging his mother Isabella's death, crosses paths with Alicia, whom Fermín saved as a child. The regime's lies come out, Daniel finally learns what happened to his mother, and the threads of all four books are tied together. In the epilogue, Daniel's son Julián sets out to write down the story of the family.
