Quick recap

In Gatlin, South Carolina, Ethan Wate meets the girl from his dreams: Lena Duchannes, niece of the reclusive Macon Ravenwood. Lena is a Caster, and at 16 she will be claimed by the Light or the Dark. A Civil War curse pulls the family's women to the Dark, where her cousin Ridley and her mother, Sarafine, want Lena. Breaking the curse requires the death of someone Lena loves, so she wipes their love from Ethan's memory. On her birthday, Ethan seems to die, but the one who dies is Macon, disguised as him. Lena hides the moon and seals away Sarafine's spirit. Six months later, Ethan reaches the town line and remembers her.
